Revolution Vinyasa Flow (Moderate to Strong) All Levels of Practitioners Welcome! One of our most popular style classes. What sets Revolution's style of yoga apart from others? Every class you'll be sure to receive your daily dose of vinyasa krama. Vinyasa Krama means intelligently sequenced so one pose builds to the next. Your practice will feel organic as your body gradually opens in flexibility and builds in strength as the practice progresses within your one hour and fifteen minute flow. This is a very safe and intelligently thought out process so your practice will heal you rather than harm you. Your teachers have all studied injury prevention and alignment practices that have been proven in studies of yoga and physiology to be the safest forms of movement and body mechanics.
Every class is sequenced Ayurvedically. Ayurveda is yoga's sister science which is still used as a form of medicine and healing in India. It has been developed over 5000 years into the holistic and incredibly effective medical system that it is today. Ayurveda understands how the seasons and our environment affect our bodies and minds on many levels and uses lifestyle practices and yoga technique (asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy) to balance your unique constitution for the season we are in. Each Revolution Vinyasa Flow class is sequenced from a pool of hundreds of postures to leave you feeling perfectly balanced for the season bringing your body back into equilibrium.
We integrate yoga philosophy and spirituality into every class. By not ignoring the 8 limbs of yoga for just asana (physical practice) we feel we are teaching what the sages and rishi's intended for this practice. Not only will you be purifying your body, you'll be presented ideas that will start to change your life. Lastly in that vein we integrate meditation technique into each class for the whole yoga package.

Revolution Foundations (Basic to Moderate) (If you are just starting out please take Newbies first until you are comfortable) Foundations is a class geared at unpacking asana (yoga postures). Each class will have it's own peak pose. All the postures leading up to this pose will open the body and create the strength needed for the peak posture. Once you get there you will understand the anatomy and physiology of the peak posture inside and out. Our aim is for you to be empowered in your practice and that you will have deep knowledge of the postures so you can practice safely and strongly. When you build a strong foundation your house will stand up strong! Each week showcases a different peak pose.
Revolution Restorative (Basic to Gentle) - Revolution's unique brand of Restorative Yoga. A passive practice in which students are propped in postures with bolsters, blankets, blocks, straps and sandbags on the floor. During class, students are guided through relaxation meditation and receive hands-on adjustments to work on sacred yogic acupressure points (marma). Class ends with Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep), one of the most powerful relaxation practices available to our tradition. Each class is sequenced for the season (ayurvedically) balancing the body. Our flavor of restorative is formulated to boost immunity and resilience, act on the nervous system to spark our inner healing mechanisms, help you sleep better at night and imbue you with feelings of peace and well-being.
Newbies (Basic) A class for people who have never heard of yoga before! We go through what yoga means, where it came from, we take lots of time to explain the yogic breath and we go through the basic postures one by one. Taking time to explain alignment and intention. Injury prevention techniques are emphasized greatly in this class so by the time you leave you'll feel well prepared to take our other classes. Some take this class once and move onto the other classes at the studio some stay with it for months to re-educate themselves on the basics.
Slow Burn Flow (Moderate to Strong) A vinyasa class that moves slowly, building stregnth gradually. The teacher will take time in the postures to really explore alignment and muscular integrity.
Gentle Flow (Safe for Prenatal, Open to all) Extra gentle yoga for everybody but especially welcome to women who are pregnant or trying to conceive. Nourish yourself! Strengthen mind, body and spirit. Class includes yoga postures to address and relieve the common discomforts of lower back tightness, tight hips, joint discomfort and more. Boost fertility if you're looking to conceive. Gain the benefits of a physical practice in a more gentle way. Relaxation techniques and breathing exercises to ease fear and anxiety; abdominal and pelvic floor toning to help tap into your pranic (energetic) flow to find deep strength and peace. This class is beneficial for all people, pregnant or not, looking to relax.
Revolution Prenatal/Postnatal (Basic to Moderate)Nourish yourself and your baby to be! Strengthen mind, body and spirit in preparation for labor and delivery with a class designed to help expectant moms deepen their experience and enjoyment of pregnancy. Class includes yoga postures to address and relieve the common discomforts of pregnancy/ boost fertility for women looking to conceive. Relaxation techniques and breathing exercises to ease fear and anxiety; abdominal and pelvic floor toning to enhance postnatal recovery for pregnant women and tap into your pranic (energetic) flow to find deep strength and peace. This class is beneficial at anytime during pregnancy.
Revolution Kids Young ones experience the same physical benefits adults do from doing yoga such as strengthening, flexibility and coordination (good for development and sports performance.) Yoga enhances self-awareness, self esteem, self-discipline, imagination and empathy. Children learn ways to relax and control their stress leading to better concentration, and better performance in school. Plus REVOLUTION KIDS yoga is fun and engaging!! We play games, tell stories, use our imaginations, dance move and make great friends!
BEACH YOGA: Take your yoga practice into the great outdoors. $10 for Revolution Members, $20 for drop in. We meet weekly on Saturdays at Long Beach. Please call ahead for location details. Surf lessons or massage sessions post-yoga available upon request. Keith (516-965-4304)
POST-NATAL + BABY: This unique class combines yoga and play to get back in shape while strengthening the bond between you and your infant. Experience flowing asanas, challenging postures, and calming restorative time in a playful and safe environment for babies. Learn Baby Yoga exercises to strengthen growing muscles, aid in digestion, promote better sleeping patterns, and help your infant towards their next stage of development. Basic infant massage techniques will also be introduced.Dads are welcome too! All levels. ($25 Drop in- 5 Class pack $100)
