Caitlin Holtslag

Nickname: I don't really have one anymore!

What's your story? I originally got into yoga on a whim. My friend invited me to take a class with her and I got hooked. I had dabbled in yoga through out the years, but never had ventured into a studio. Sharing the energy with all the other yogis, the challenging and beautiful postures, as well as finding my breath and meditation practice began to change my life. I was enrolled in my first teacher training less than a year later. Since then I have completed an 85 hour prenatal yoga teacher training, as well as a 30 hour yin yoga teacher training, with various workshops along the way. I am also a level one Reiki practitioner.

What do you teach? Becoming a mom as well as a teacher of prenatal yoga has made me very passionate about encouraging woman to realize their own strength. The beauty of the natural birth process is one that I am in awe of, and I feel like it is being stolen from the women in this country. Being in a position where I can share, empower and support pregnant women through discussion and the practice of yoga is very important to me.

What are your greatest passions in life?Environmental and animal rights is another one of my passions. The constant disrespect that is shown to Mother Earth is something that I am perpetually aware of and I try to do my part everyday.

How do you plan on changing the world? My passions light the fire inside for me to keep doing what I am doing. I will continue teaching yoga, standing up for the Earth and all its inhabitants and raising my children as good people. These things may not change the world in a dramatic fashion, but it seems to need all the light it can get lately, and I plan to keep shining mine.

How many passport stamps do you have? My passport has 32 stamps. I'll be sad when it expires next year!
